01 — The Brief
Alcheringa walked in first.
Alcheringa is the Northeast's biggest cultural festival. The 2025 edition — themed "8-Bit Escapade" — needed merch that matched the retro-gaming energy: bold graphics, multiple silhouettes, and nearly 2,000 pieces delivered on a hard fest deadline.
Five product types. One festival. 1,964 pieces in total — beige round neck tees with the "Respawn" arcade artwork, navy oversized tees with "Meet Me at the Arcade", black pullover hoodies with the isometric Alcheringa block art, black zipper hoodies for the core team with name and designation on the back, and polo tees for the organising committee.
Every piece custom-designed, DTF-printed (Direct-to-Film — the sharp full-colour method that doesn't crack at the seams), and trucked from Kolkata to Guwahati on time.
From Alcheringa's 1,964-piece run to a CSE Department order to club after club — Merchland delivered to every arm of campus that asked. Same quality, same turnaround, every single time.

02 — The Pivot
When the merch wouldn't stop walking.
The fest happened. The merch moved. And then something more important happened — students kept wearing it. In hostels. In classes. Around campus. The hoodies became everyday wear. The arcade tees became the default.
That visibility became Merchland's best ad on the IIT Guwahati campus — better than any pitch deck or sales call. Other clubs and societies started asking the same question: "Who made your merch?"
When 1,964 pieces of fest merch keep walking the campus for weeks after the fest ends, you don't need a sales team. You need an order intake form.
03 — The Delivery
When a department picks you.
Fest merch is one thing. When an academic department orders custom merchandise for its students, the bar is different. It's not hype — it's identity.
The CSE Department at IIT Guwahati placed an order for ~400 pieces across three product types: black polo tees with the CSEA logo, teal round neck tees with CSE branding, and grey oversized tees with a retro TV-style "IITG CSE" print. Three colourways, three silhouettes, one department — all DTF-printed on biowashed cotton.
These weren't just handed out at an event. Students wore them to class, to the campus café, to the library. The CSE tee became part of daily life at IIT Guwahati — not because anyone told them to, but because the fit was right and the print held up.

04 — The Expansion
Six more campus bodies, one partner.
One by one, every active arm of IIT Guwahati found its way to the same partner. Not pitched. Not chased. Just asked.
Spirit Sports Fest — IIT Guwahati's inter-hostel sports fest — took 113 pieces of oversized tees and pullover hoodies in 240-300 GSM (grams per square metre — heavier means more durable), built for comfort during a high-energy sports event. SPIC Macay (IIT Guwahati chapter) got serious about aesthetics: maroon oversized tees in 240 GSM loopknit cotton and coffee-brown pullover hoodies in 350 GSM cotton fleece, 190 pieces — the maroon-and-coffee palette alone told you this was curated, not generic.
The Consulting & Analytics Club ordered 115 pieces — white and black zipper hoodies in fleece, polo tees in white, cyan, and blue — merch that had to look professional, and did. And DotAI Club, the AI/ML crowd, ran 240 GSM biowashed oversized tees across multiple batches — first 50, then 15 more, then more after that. Reorders are the truest signal in merch: the first batch was good enough that people who missed it asked for it.
05 — Beyond the Fests
From event merch to daily infrastructure.
The Hostel Affairs Board isn't a club or a fest. It's the body that manages hostel life for the entire campus. When they ordered 170 zipper hoodie jackets in 330 GSM fleece, that was Merchland becoming part of IIT Guwahati's daily infrastructure — not just event merch, but something students wear every day in their hostels for the rest of the year.
This isn't a story about eight separate orders. It's a story about what happens when you deliver quality once on a campus that talks. Alcheringa opened the door. Reputation kept it open. That's not marketing. That's word of mouth at scale.
From the biggest cultural fest to a 30-piece club order to the body that runs hostel life — every arm of IIT Guwahati eventually found its way to the same partner.

07 — FAQ
Questions, answered.
How many pieces did Merchland deliver to IIT Guwahati across all orders?
Across eight distinct campus bodies, Merchland delivered 2,950+ pieces to IIT Guwahati — including 1,964 for Alcheringa 2025, ~400 for the CSE Department, 190 for SPIC Macay, 170 for Hostel Affairs Board, 115 for the Consulting & Analytics Club, 113 for Spirit Sports Fest, plus multi-batch reorders for DotAI Club. Five product types, multiple GSM weights, and DTF printing across the lot.
Can Merchland deliver to the Northeast — including Guwahati and remote Assam locations?
Yes. Merchland ships from Kolkata to all Northeast states including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, and Mizoram. The Alcheringa 2025 delivery — nearly 2,000 pieces — was trucked to IIT Guwahati on the original fest deadline, and follow-on orders for CSE, SPIC Macay, HAB, CAC, DotAI, and Spirit have continued to land on schedule.
What's the difference between a 240 GSM oversized tee and a 300 GSM hoodie?
GSM (grams per square metre) measures fabric weight. 240 GSM cotton is the heavy oversized tee weight — the substantial, structured kind that doesn't go thin after washes. 300-350 GSM applies to pullover and zipper hoodies — winter-grade fleece that holds its shape and survives multiple seasons. SPIC Macay's coffee-brown hoodies use 350 GSM; HAB's zipper jackets use 330 GSM; Alcheringa's hoodies use 300 GSM. Heavier means warmer, more durable, more premium feel.
How do you get one campus to keep coming back across multiple departments?
You don't sell. You deliver. The IIT Guwahati pattern was simple: Alcheringa's 1,964 pieces walked the campus for weeks after the fest ended. Other students saw the print, felt the fabric, watched the hoodies hold up wash after wash. The next club asked the first club, "Who made your merch?" — and the answer kept coming back the same. Reputation does what cold outreach can't.
